We went off-shore fishing with Capt. Kevin Walton, owner of Non Stop Fishing Charters, and we had a blast.
Where Do You Start for Vacation Rental Off Shore Fishing?
Vacation rental off shore fishing St Pete Beach… There’s so many Captains and charter options, where do you start? Well, we had that same question, so we took it to social media. We asked in a St Pete Beach group, who was their recommended Captain to take three buddies out for a half-day charter. There were several responses, so we started checking out social media pages, web pages and then texted the few that marketed well. Capt. Walton, from Non Stop Fishing Charters, responded quickly and we liked that. It must mean he was interested.
Where to Pick Up for Vacation Rental Off Shore Fishing?
Since we are staying at the vacation rental, Bahia155, and it’s on an island, I didn’t feel I wanted to drive too far to get picked up. So the pick up location played a role in our choosing. Capt. Walton picked us up at a hotel just over the Pinellas Bayway Bridge and north a block, or two, on Gulf Blvd. That was convenient. The hotel had valet parking so that was one less thing to be concerned with. If you are familiar with this area, parking can be troublesome, ask The Undertow.
What Do You Catch Off Shore Fishing St Pete Beach?

We caught quite the variety fishing St Pete Beach. We bounced around between Tampa Bay and Boca Ciega Bay. Of course, where you stick around is going to depend on many factors. Mainly if you’re getting some bites. Just about every place we stopped, we at least had something stealing our bait. Our skill level is far from a 10, and we were probably telling more fish stories, making new ones. Some fish we caught were; Mackerel, Ladyfish, Catfish and a few others. We did see some dolphin while out and about, but that’s not a good thing when trying to fish. Mainly, because so are they.
What Does it Cost?
Everyone is always going to want to know what it costs to go off shore fishing in St. Pete Beach. Well, it varies. Expect rates for a half day to start around $500 and go up. Be sure to ask if there are any additional charges to expect. Such as, fuel or bait. These are usually included for half day rates, because you won’t use much fuel since you stay kinda close to land. A couple of helpful hints, be sure to TIP your Capt, no matter what, and more if you had a great day. Also, these outfits like to be paid in cash. You know, so you don’t have to pay out those pesky credit card fees.
Do the Boats have Bathrooms?
While fishing St Pete Beach, not all of the charters are going to be “female friendly.” Meaning, they don’t all have a head on-board. Guys tend to fair a little better on this scenario, but for us, we were starting the day a bit dehydrated, so it wasn’t relevant. lol Don’t get down though, there are charters out there that have a head on the boat. Just need to ask.
